Now that you have finished a cross-stitch or embroidery hoop, you want to hide the stitch butts and the messiness of the backside. This will create a polished and professional image and because this is art there are many ways to do this but this is how I do it.
Hot Glue The first thing that I do is hot glue the fabric onto the hoop to create a seal of the tension. Folding the fabric in nicely.
Cut The Ends I will then cut off any extra long ends so the possibility of seeing them through the fabric is less. I will also hot glue some knots that look a little iffy, to better secure them.
Back Fabric Or Felt Next, I will cut a piece of felt but really any fabric would do. I normally hot glue the felt on the back on top of the folded fabric, I used to sew the felt on the fabric however I find it easier to hot glue and it leaves a cleaner edge.
Branding I like to brand or leave my mark on the finished pieces. I have seen this in many ways including a logo, Instagram handle or just the makers name. I personally like to leave the back of the piece blank because I don’t have a logo or anything to put on it, plus I prefer the minimal look. However, I do hand write my brand name (the ministry of adventure) on the wooden hoop, this is a very minimal way to brand my pieces in a subtle way.
Post it! obviously you don't have to but I post my finished projects on social media and I love getting to see my internet friends' finished art. Feel free to tag me in your posts on instagram, I would love to see what kind art and embroidery my readers are into.
